So I have to admit, I’m kicking myself right now. I went on a daily walk and came across two beautiful 3-month old white Pit Bulls in a grassy knoll and didn’t have my phone with me to take the picture! I will describe them but it won’t do them justice. One was running around playing and her sister was in her bed relaxing. The one in the bed had one brown eye and one blue eye. I went over to pet them and let’s just say, teething dogs can do a number on your hands, even when the nibbles are small!- Ouch!
Dogs that have blue eyes, one or both, jar me a bit. I jokingly explain to my friends that “dogs with blue eyes are looking into and stealing your soul.” 🙂 Do dogs with blue eyes throw any of you for a loop or am I the only one?
Life has been happening at a pretty quick pace recently so we have some catching up to do! It looks like we’re going to be signing the lease at that apartment complex that does the “Doggy DNA.” Even though it has some outlandish rules, it’s nice, new and close to where we need to be.
I went on a family cruise recently and the topic of dogs came up, naturally :). One side of the family has a Springer Spaniel named Abby. She’s 9 years old and for the last few years she has been very hot/cold. It’s hard to know what sets her off, but when she is set off, she will growl, run after you and try biting you. For instance, she was barking at another dog and someone told her to stop, so she started growling and came after the person trying to get her to stop. I was petting her lightly with my foot and she seemed to like it as she rolled on her side seeming to want more. When I stopped she rolled over on all-fours and growled, so I backed up. As I stepped back, she got up and came after me on her hind legs trying to bite me. I had to jump up on the kitchen island for higher ground to escape her madness.
After doing some research, we were wondering if she has Spaniel Rage? She does have dominance issues, as you can see in the picture, she shouldn’t be sleeping in the chair among other things. She really only started to exhibit this behavior within the last few years and it seems completely random. Has anyone else experienced/heard of this?
I don’t know about you but it was difficult getting up this morning due to Daylight Savings Time. On the plus side, it will be lighter out longer!
So, it has been awhile since we’ve been apartment hunting and there is something that I didn’t notice as much before. The “Pet Policy” apartments and condos have. We went to one complex and they literally swab a dogs mouth “doggy DNA” as they call it, when you first move in. That way, if you don’t pick up after your pet, they will test the poop and be able to match it to the doggy DNA swab and fine you. What!? Maybe this is commonplace now but my goodness! There are also a lot of pet breed restrictions I have noticed as well. For instance:
“The following is a non-comprehensive list of dogs that are not permitted:
Akita, Rottweiler, Doberman Pinscher, German Shepherd, Pit Bull including American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Bull Terrier, Chow…” The list goes on. Has it always been like this? I realize I can always find a place that doesn’t have these restrictions but I was shocked by some of these “Pet Policies.”
This video literally has me laughing out loud so I had to share!

Happy Tuesday everyone! It’s time for Tuesday Tails!
My Tuesday Tail is about Josie, our 12-year-old family Pomeranian. She is all black but turning grey as you can see. A few years ago when she was younger and had more energy she would do the cutest thing that still melts my heart till this day. She didn’t want to jump down from the couch to the floor so I would pick her up and place her on the ground. Princess-like behavior, but I chuck it up to her small size and a tall couch. As I would walk away she would run up behind me and put her cold little nose on the back of my leg. When I would turn around, she would run away like the dickens! Although she’s now older and a bit curmudgeonly, I can’t help but look at those fun days and smile. To me, she’s the cutest little fur-ball in the world am I’m so lucky she’s still with us.
Please feel free to share some of your Tuesday Tails with me in the comments below.
Instead of Saturday morning cartoons, we watch Bad Dog! on Animal Planet.
